Food and Drink in Cornwall
Cornwall has a lot going for it when it comes to good food and drink. The sea has always been a source of food for the county and there is an excellent choice of seafood restaurants around the county in the many coastal towns and old fishing ports.
Perhaps the most famous of these is Rick Stein's restaurant in Padstow which requires booking WELL in advance most of the time!
Another well-known restaurant is the Newquay-based Fifteen Cornwall, part of Jamie Oliver's chain of restaurants which aim to train, inspire and support young people who might otherwise be at risk of long term underachievement. The restaurant at Watergate Bay is hugely popular and achieves considerable success both as a high quality restaurant and as a crucible in which young talent is nurtured.
Throughout the county you can find something for everyone: shops selling freshly cooked (and very tasty) pasties, cafes selling cream teas, family pubs, bistros and restaurants. A great number of these use locally sourced fresh produce and are very popular with the local residents in addition to the annual rush of visitors that arrive each holiday season.
